epartures Magazine would describe them as world class travelers. The type of couple who fly to New York for a museum opening, or London for an important Christie’s auction. Their standards are high and they delight in being the first in their crowd to find something new. The Sterling’s innate sense of style led them to a room that reflected their new-found fascination with Asia and the Far East. Unpacking her Louis Vuitton luggage, Mrs. Sterling’s exacting eyes rested on two Chinese Chippendale chairs at the bay window, thinking they looked very much like the pair she had seen at auction recently. Placing his cufflinks on the Japanese side table, Mr. Sterling took note of the black silk pagoda lampshade that reminded him of their recent trip to Kyoto. Surveying the room, they both admired the period chandelier over the bed, the hand-painted and stenciled wall and ceiling and the stunning bathroom.
