Gordon Hattersley, III
Owner and Operator
Gordon Hattersley, III is owner and operator of the landmark Britt Scripps Inn in San Diego. The experienced hotelier purchased the 118-year-old Britt-Scripps House in 2001. Following a 24-month restoration, Hattersley welcomed his first guests to the extraordinary nine-room Queen Anne Victorian Inn in February 2005.
Hattersley first fell in love with the historic Britt Scripps House in the late 1980s when he moved to the area to help open and operate the Rancho Valencia Resort in Rancho Santa Fe. During his tenure with the Rancho Valencia, where he served as director of sales and assistant manager, Hattersley gained vast experience in both the operational and development sides of the hospitality industry.
Following his four-year stint at Rancho Valencia, he established the successful Steamboat Bed & Breakfast in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. In addition to owning and operating the bed and breakfast, Hattersley was involved in numerous real estate and development projects in the greater Steamboat Springs area.
Born and raised in Philadelphia , Hattersley graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor’s degree in history and political science. He later attended Cornell University ’s professional development program for executives in the hospitality industry. The 42-year-old now resides in the Mission Hills area of San Diego. |
