he taxi ride from the airport had only taken a few minutes – a few minutes added to a long, tiring day spent in airports and meetings. At last, some down time for me, Patricia thought, as she opened the door to her room. From the lace curtains covering the large bay windows, she could see the twilight sky. The warm glow of the room’s lights and the quiet that ensued gave her a sense of calm. She dropped her luggage, kicked off her shoes and threw herself on the bed. How could a bed feel this good? she wondered. Was it the brocade comforter cover or the down pillows that made her not want to ever leave this room? Looking up at the painted ceiling, she thinks, yes, a steamy hot bath in a big claw-footed tub (Just like Grandma’s!) I haven’t soaked in since I was eight, some herbal tea, a short nap and a book. This, thought Patricia, was true luxury.
